The very edge of the central highlands is the mountain Sri Pada, which soars upwards the height of 7360 feet. Famously known as "Adam’s peak" is surrounded by extraordinarily thick abundant forest makes up the Peak Wilderness Reservation. The surroundings are similar to the Himalayas meaning it is not the deluxe muggy cover one usually associates with the tropics but a cool misty forest. Heavy moss hanging from giant trees and endemic orchids like the "Regal" and the "Chandraja" grows in the dark misty environment.
Dumbara mountain range also called as "Knuckles mountain range". Which is located in the northern end of the central highlands of Kandy. Trekkers & Hikkers approach Knuckles as their favourite tracks which initiate from A26 main motorway running east of Hunnasgiriya to Kandy.While leading to the magnificent views of Knuckles mountain range. For one who wants to reach a maximum by road can come to Corbett’s Gap leading through the Meemure village with fewer disturbances. Knuckle’s resemblance and meaning is "Clenched fist" the name was given by the British.
